Honda CBX 1000 Restoration Guide

Anyone interested in a Honda CBX will get something from the book:

  • A buyers guide for prospective owners

  • How to restore them back to "as new" condition

  • How to recommission a bike that has been standing a while

  • Advice on general maintenance and common issues

  • Detailed specification details - is the bike really "as it left the factory" or has it been messed with?

It covers the 1979 / Z model in detail and covers the 1980 / A model to a large extent (the differences are highlighted). Most of the content is still relevant to the prolink models, but it does not include any prolink specific material.

The guide is 300 pages and is intended to augment the Honda Factory Shop Manual. It includes topics not included in the FSM, and highlights things that are covered by it that you need to look out for.

Fastener Insert

The restoration guide references a "fastener insert" in a few places. This is a complete list of all the fasteners on a CBX that should be present and need to be zinc plated.
